A RUMOR IS BORN
The nose on the grand Sphinx in Giza is broken. Legend has it that Napoleon Bonaparte, in his crusade throughout Europe and into Egypt, stopped with his troops in Giza. There he used a cannonball to blow the nose of the Sphinx off. But history doesn’t report some of the lesser known facts about Napoleon’s interest in the ancient city in the desert of North Africa.
But was this military campaign meant to protect French trade interests? Or did Napoleon have a dual agenda?

According to a few scholars including John Anthony West, “There was scientific and spiritual reason and military of course for Napoleon coming through.”
But the rabbit hole goes deeper when one realizes his carefully regarded affiliation with a fraternal organization. Could this Military general and first emperor of France, have had an another more personal reason for exploring the Pyramid at Giza?
